Portland Is One Of The Best Cities To Ride Out The Recession
Oct 17th, 2008 | By Greg Long | Category: Finance-MortgagesAccording to a recent Forbes article on the economy, Portland was named one of the best cities to weather the recession. The criteria used was job growth, unemployment, income and real estate data. Also factored in was how much of recent growth was due to the financial services industry.
Portland ranked #4 on the list of top cities, just behind Austin, Oklahoma City, and Honolulu. The worst cities were from California, Florida, Nevada and Michigan.
This bodes well for those making the decision to buy right now and hold on for a few years. Really a great time to buy as the Portland real estate inventory is well stocked and interest rates are still historically low. Read the whole story on Forbes.com here.
