The Hillsdale district is a neighborhood in southwest Portland. It is located central to the Hillsdale retail and business area, which contains a series of strip malls on SW Capitol Highway between SW Sunset Boulevard and SW Bertha Boulevard. A little father away is the 90 acre Gabriel Park.
There is a 4-mile Hillsdale to River walk, which is a mixture of staircases, forest paths, and trails along the river. Not only are there numerous trails and parks to visit, the SW Trails Group is constantly working to develop more access to Hillsdale's natural beauty, making trail improvements, leading walks, working with Safe Routes to School, and advocating for pedestrian and bicycle safety. They hold a monthly walk on the second Saturday of each month. What is more, after a decade of lobbying, the Red Electric Pedestrian and Bike Trail has received funding from the city to the tune of $1.93 million to pay for the first segment of 15-mile link between the Willamette River and Fanno Creek.
The Mittleman Jewish Community Center is a private community center and health club, and next door is the Southwest Community Center which offers swimming and exercise classes. Nearby is the Fulton Community Center, which includes a basketball court, kitchen, meeting room, party room, and a performance stage.
